Coast road almost all the way. The first 17km was very pretty. The last part was along the beach road, not pretty but pleasant.

The 08:01 train from Nice Ville to Antheor departed on time and was quite full. By Cannes, the majority had got out. The journey took just under one hour. Starting the walk at 9 am is not ideal. It has already warmed up and everyone else is up and about. For the first hour the coast road (the only option) was fairly quiet apart from bicycles. Later it got quite busy. There was pavement for a useful amount of the route except for the steeper areas without houses where the pavement would really have helped. There were wonderful views over the sea.

After about 17 km, the route dropped to sea level and followed the beach all the way to Cannes. Apart from a few short sections, this was not very pretty. There was the railway, the road and then the beach. Inland among the hotels and holiday villas, it might be nicer. The beaches were busy with the usual array of people, sun bathing or digging in the sand. There was no promenade for dogs, cyclists and roller bladers. This made progress easier because you could walk along the pavement without continually dodging out of peoples' way.

At the Gare de Cannes there were lots of trains to Nice. So many that it was worth deliberately missing one to allow time to cool down from the walking. Back at Cuers, that trick would cost you four hours. Here it was about 15 minutes.
