We travelled back to England where it was cold but dry. The temperature was 2oC. Ian was going to fetch us but thought we were coming back on Thursday so we took an expensive taxi ride instead. The rest of the jurney was uneventful.

We were all ready to leave and I was trying to finish "The Falls" so I would know who done it. Mini wanted to be off so I had to leave it in a state of suspense. Our trip to the airport was uneventful. Near Almeria, we saw snow on the Sierra Nevada.

Neil filled the car with petrol at Retamar near the airport. Then Mini and I got out and he took the car back to the car hire agency round the corner. We had booked with Centauro who had had an office in the terminal building but they had been taken over by Auriga Crown so we got one of their cars instead.

At Stansted, Ian wasn’t there. We waited a bit because we were early. Then I phoned his mobile which was off. A good sign as it must mean he was on his way. Still no Ian. I phone his normal number. He thought we were coming the next day. Neil’s stupid Christmas holiday with one day missing has confused us all. We get a taxi. It’s a lot of money but the driver is cheerful and speeds systematically between cameras. I don’t agree with doing this (I’m a prig) but it does mean the journey is very short. He was ex-police and drove very safely in every other respect.

I empty my case into the washing machine, dry everything and put it back in the small case for Februarry. Alicante and the Coata Blanca here we come.

.We have noticed a change in the geology on this walk. The beach sand is getting paler and so are the rocks and cliffs. The Costa Blanca really is white. The habletats for flowers change from the Costa Calida to Costa Blanca. Black stuns turn yellow. Pebbly beaches become sandy.
