4 km of very nice mountain walking. The rest was on the main road or sea fronts. The main road had good footpaths almost all the way.
The 06:07 Ventimiglia train from Genova Piazza Principe departed on time. Neil got out at Finale Liguria.
The walk started well with nice sea front walking and the main road was quiet and had a good footpath. The 4 km mountain path came next. If only I were fitter and less fat but I climbed the 1000 ft easily enough but with a lot of heat and puff. Then it was back to the main road and sea front. Vado Ligure came as a surprise. Genova is obviously a major port but so is Vado Ligure. From here you can catch ferries to Corsica, Sardinia and Sicily. The town with its coal fired power station looks dusty and run down compared with the more touristy seaside towns. The final leg to Savona was on a busy road with a narrow footpath. This was less pleasant as the mountain leg had been quite tiring.
Starting earlier each day, I got back to base before 5pm for the first time this trip. With some food and rehydration and a good night's sleep, all should be well tomorrow.
