This walk was mostly along the coast. We took two days to cross the delta of the Ebre river, we got quite far from the sea. The delta land was agricultural and driained like Holland or Lincolnshire in England. There were irrigation canals too. The coastal walking included sea front paths, beaches, gravel tracks and mountainous cliff paths. There were many sections parallel with the railway. South of Tarragona there is heavy industry so we headed inland for a day to bypass this. North of Tarragona, the coastal villages became busier. They are near enough to Barcelona for weekend outings. May family groups were using cafes and walking along the coastal ramblas.

The weather was dry and cool. When the sun came out it was warm enough to bask in comfort. The cloudy days were chilly and we were flushed from our resting places by the cold.

Sat 14^thFeb 2009	London Stansted to Barcelons (Girona). Car, fly, bus, walk, train, car. We drove to Stansted at 02:30 in the morning. The Pink Elephant was adequate. Our on-line check worked and the Easyjet flight to Girona was 30 minutes late. Both Anne and Neil had their bags searched but we both passed to travel.
Sun 15^thFeb 2009 17.7 km	La Rapita to L'Aldea Amposta Tortosa Train, Bus, Walk, Train. The walk was along small canals passing rice paddies. It was overcast and rather cool. The canals seem to be set up to flood the rice paddies.
Mon 16^thFeb 2009 27.1 km	L'Aldea Amposta to L'Ametlla de Mar Train, Walk, Train. More canals followed by coastal paths and roads. We picked up the GR92 route. This crossed some quite steep mountain terrain and ravines. We were tired after this long and strenuous walk.
Tue 17^thFeb 2009 22.1 km	L'Ametlla de Mar to Hospitalet de L'Infant Train, Walk, Train. This walk would have been perfect after the dawn chills ended. However the main coast road and railway follow a similar route so it is impossible to get away from the noise even if the traffic is some distance away.
Wed 18^thFeb 2009 24.3 km	L'Hospitalet de L'Infant-to-Salou Train. After the gale force Mestral winds early in the day, this walk became pleasant. It followed the coast closley although we sought shenter from the wind a few yards inland.
Thu 19^thFeb 2009 15.4 km	Salou to Tarragona Train This is a heavily industrialised zone. We headed inland and walked on grass and lanes until we reached the city.
Fri 20^thFeb 2009 17.2 km	Tarragona to Torredembarra. Train. Roman ruins, woodland paths, cliff-top paths, beaches, picturesque villages. All rather nice.
Sat 21^stFeb 2009 21.1 km	Torredembarra to Cunit. Train. Sea front becoming busy with the weekend nice weather. We are getting near Barcelona and it be more crowded.
Sun 22^ndFeb 2009	Barcelons (Reus) to Stansted. Taxi, Flight, Car. Uneventful. Small airports with one shop are so much nicer than the giants like Heathrow.
