This easy riverside and marsh walk starts from the free car park near beccles quay. There are no stiles or difficult terrain. Some of the farm tracks can be muddy. You have to cross the busy Beccles bypass but otherwise the route is traffic free.

    Distance  Minutes Total
A) From the car park, head northeast to the waymarked footpath. Turn onto the path and head northeast towards the main road Beccles bypass. Cross the bypass and go down the steps. Continue northeast for a few more yards. 240 Yds 3 3
B) When the path joins the farm access road, turn left onto another path and head northwest. This path runs parallel with the bypass and heads towards the river. 360 Yds 4 7
C) At the river path, turn right and head northeast beside the water. 480 Yds 5 12
D) Just after the sailing club, turn right and head east on a small path between the club and a farm access road. The path soon joins the road. 370 Yds 4 16
E) Turn left onto the waymarked path, through a pedestrian gate and head a little north of east. This grassy lane zigzags a bit. 0.8 Miles 15 31
F) When you reach the river again, don't cross the footbridge and go up the steps. Instead bear right along another very obvious waymarked grassy lane. Head southeast. 520 Yds 6 37
G) You reach a right turn in the track. Follow this heading southwest. The other directions just lead into fields. Later, ignore the path to the left. 780 Yds 9 46
H) Turn right and head west. The grassy track straight ahead is much less used. You will soon reach some farm buildings. Go straight ahead across the concrete yard and continue along the gravel lane. 980 Yds 11 57
I) At the tee junction, turn left and head southwest back towards Beccles. At (B) you rejoin your original route. Cross the bypass and return to your starting point at (A). 520 Yds 6 1:03
